We asked Erika to share her story about moving to Canada.
Here’s what she said:
I have been here for exactly thirty-six days, I’m from Mexico and I came here with all my family.
I grew up in Guadalajara, a city with very different weather, and so many different things, like people, systems and more.
Canada is a really peaceful place (too much).
I really hope to get used to this new place fast because I already miss many things that I had in Mexico, not just friends and stuff… My birth place is warmer, even people, and I like how things are more homemade than here, where everything is so industrial, artificial and a little sterile.
I’m very new to Canada, I know, and to be honest I like people I have met here, I’m having fun and moreover, I have learned a lot.
One thing I like about this place is the variety of people it contains, because this makes it so interesting. I like to watch how different we are. Sometimes it’s funny to watch ads that I can’t understand because they are in Chinese or Punjabi.
My parents think that this is a good country, and I think so too; and that’s why I accepted to come. It has really good schools and really good ways to develop your skills.
Yes, Canada is a good place, with nice landscapes, good systems, good activities and many other things and I want to study here; nevertheless I have no plans to stay here the rest of my life. I want to travel and know many new places and after many years, find one that I like.
